On ArcSuite system, images of the documents registered in the Document Management Service can be displayed by means of the following:
When an image is displayed, the image conversion method is selected depending on the settings of the template assigned to the user.
Browser image conversion displays the converted image in the [View Content], [View Index Image], [Multi-content View], or [Multi-index View] window on the Web browser. These images can be zoomed, rotated, clipped, etc. by using the icons on the window.
TIFF conversion converts the target document to a TIFF image. When converting a multi-page document or multiple documents, the images are converted to a multi-page TIFF image. The converted TIFF images or the multi-page TIFF images are displayed by an application capable of displaying TIFF images.
If a plug-in application capable of displaying TIFF images is not installed in the Web browser, or an application capable of displaying TIFF images is not installed in the client machine, TIFF images cannot be displayed.
PDF conversion converts the target document to a PDF file.
The converted PDF files can be displayed by an application ("Adobe Acrobat" or "Acrobat Reader") capable of displaying PDF files.
If a plug-in application capable of displaying PDF files is not installed in the Web browser, or an application capable of displaying PDF files is not installed in the client machine, PDF files cannot be displayed.
DocuWorks conversion converts the target document to a DocuWorks file (DocuWorks document or DocuWorks binder).
The converted DocuWorks files can be displayed by an application ("DocuWorks Viewer", "DocuWorks Viewer Light", or "DocuWorks Viewer Light for Web") capable of displaying DocuWorks files.
If any of the following conditions are met, DocuWorks files cannot be displayed:
When DocuWorks conversion takes a long period of time because the document has many pages, the pages which converted in the beginning will be displayed. In this case, the [Refresh] button appears. Clicking the button displays the DocuWorks files which were converted when the button was clicked. After the DocuWorks is converted, the [Refresh] button will not be displayed.
JPEG conversion converts the target document to a JPEG image.
The converted JPEG images are displayed by an application capable of displaying JPEG images.
If a plug-in application capable of displaying JPEG images is not installed in the Web browser, or an application capable of displaying JPEG images is not installed in the client machine, JPEG images are displayed in the Web browser.
Non-conversion does not convert the target document. The primary content or print image stored in the Document Management Service is displayed directly.
A non-conversion document is displayed by a plug-in application of a Web browser or various applications installed in the client machine. For instance, when viewing Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Word installed in the client machine starts up. When you display a PDF file, Adobe Reader installed in the client computer starts. In such case, operations such as printing and saving files can be done by using features from the installed application.
And, if any of the following conditions are met, documents cannot be displayed:
However, Web-browser-supported files are displayed in the Web browser.
By setting a Controlled view, you can restrict operations such as printing and saving files with the installed application.
